Prof. Gerber, who researches how new technology can support the innovation process,  discusses the paradox of disclosing AI use. She notes that the tension is particularly present in academic settings, where disclosure is considered ethical but it can also decrease trust and credibility. This creates an AI disclosure gap for students who may find AI tools useful but fear being penalized for using them. Gerber argues that evaluation standards should shift to reflect skills like problem-solving and critical thinking, rather than focusing on whether AI assistance was used.
