Institute fellow Katie Insel receives NIMH grant for her project “Computational and Neurodevelopmental Mechanisms of Memory-Guided Decision-Making.”

This work aims to characterize how adolescent brain development supports the maturation of memory-guided decision-making.

Adolescence is a period of the lifespan accompanied by heightened risk for maladaptive decision-making, a profile that confers risk for psychopathology, including depression. By identifying how neurodevelopment shapes the ability to use positive memories to guide adaptive decision-making, these findings could have direct implications for understanding why adolescents are at increased risk for depression.
