Training

People working with laptopsThe Institute is committed to supporting graduate and postdoctoral training for emerging scientists developing research programs focused on the well-being of adolescents and young adults. Graduate fellows and early-stage researchers will receive mentorship and resources to advance their work, while postdoctoral fellows will be supported as they transition toward establishing independent laboratories focused on this field. Through these efforts, the Institute aims to foster a network of scholars whose work will extend to institutions across the country and beyond.

In addition to supporting advanced researchers, the Institute will offer workshops and training opportunities for students across university programs. We are also developing a certificate program designed for post-baccalaureate students seeking specialized research experience prior to entering graduate school.

The Institute will also serve as a hub for connecting undergraduates with affiliated research labs, offering hands-on opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects. Undergraduates will also have the opportunity to participate in a landmark longitudinal study studying NU students throughout their time at the university and beyond. Through a dynamic partnership with student services, students can also engage in peer-led programming focused on reducing social isolation and social anxiety — gaining valuable experience in both research and community engagement.
