Ginger Pennington is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Northwestern's Department of Psychology and the Harvey Kapnick Business Institutions Program. She teaches marketing, consumer psychology, and marketing research, providing expertise in how information spreads and how psychological biases affect young adults' decision-making. Her first-year seminar course, "Truth, Truthiness, & Trust in the Age of Deepfakes," helps students develop critical thinking skills for combating misinformation—essential for academic success and mental well-being in today's digital landscape. Beyond the classroom, she applies her research expertise to advocate for adolescent well-being, having led successful community efforts to examine school resource officer policies and address disciplinary disparities affecting students. Pennington is currently interested in examining how emerging adults develop resilience against misinformation and cultivate healthy information consumption habits.
